Description

The Waxifyer is an easy to use, premium hot wax heater with electronic thermostat for extra precise and gradual heating. The Waxifyer has a capacity of 600ml.

You can buy the Waxifyer separately or in the set with the Drip Dock and Chain Couplers as a bundle deal.

Application

Remove all packaging materials. Place the hot wax in the Waxifyer, break the wax into smaller pieces to ensure quick melting. Place the see-through vented cover on the Waxifyer while melting the hot wax. Turn the temperature control knob to ‘perfect’. If you’re working in a cold environment or want to give the melting process an extra boost: turn the temperature knob to ‘extra hot’. Make sure to turn back to ‘perfect’ once the hot wax is liquid. While waiting for the hot wax to melt, make sure to clean and dry the chain thoroughly. Place the clean chain in the liquid hot wax for at least 15 minutes. Take the chain out of the hot wax and let the excess drip off. Turn off the Waxifyer. Leave the hot wax to solidify in the Waxifyer.

Die mühevolle Vorbereitung der Ketten zahlt sich aus

Ich habe mehrere Ketten (neu und schon mit geringer Nutzung) penibel und aufwendig vorbereitet - Reinigen, Entfetten in mehreren Durchgängen und diversen Chemikalien (Bremsenreiniger, Antriebsreiniger, Waschbenzin, Isopropanol).
Auch alle Antriebsteile, die mit der Kette in Berührung kommen (Kassette, Schaltrollen, Zahnräder) habe ich penibel gesäubert und entfettet.
Das ist der aufwendige (aber notwendige) Teil am Heißwachsen. Der "spaßige" Teil ist der eigentliche Wachsvorgang und der geht mit dem Waxifyer-Set kinderleicht:
1 Kettenwachs schmelzen (am besten zum Schmelzen den Waxifyer auf maximale Stufe stellen, danach wieder auf "mittlere" Temperatur)
2 Kette auf einen Chain Coupler auffädeln
3 Kette in das Wachs legen und warten, ich habe die Kette noch gelegentlich an den Chain Couplern bewegt/gedreht
4 Nach 15 Minuten Kette zum Abtropfen an den Drip Dock hängen.
5 Danach Kette beweglich machen und mit einem Tuch abwischen
6 Kette montieren
7 Radrunde fahren und sich freuen, wie schön leise der Antrieb ist und dabei tipp-topp sauber bleibt

Sobald das Wachs nach der Anwendung wieder abgekühlt=fest ist, kann man es übrigens aus dem Waxifyer herausnehmen und von diesem getrennt lagern - ich habe einfach einen Korkenzieher hineingedreht und den Wachs"klumpen" damit angehoben. So kann man auch zwischenzeitig die Wachssorten wechseln bzw. verschiedene Wachse ausprobieren.

Für das Wachsen habe ich sowohl Wander Wax als auch Hyper Wax benutzt - und mehrere Ketten als Vorrat vorbereitet. In der Anwendung habe ich keine großen Unterschiede zwischen den beiden Wachsen gemerkt. Erfahrungswerte über die Haltbarkeit habe ich allerdings noch keine: bislang bin ich mit einem Rad (mit Wander Wax) ca. 200 km gefahren und noch keine Abnutzungserscheinungen festgestellt.
Je nachdem wie lange es letztendlich hält, werde ich ggf. zwischendurch mit Flüssigwachs noch einmal auffrischen oder gleich die nächste, bereits heißgewachste Kette aufziehen.

Makkelijk ketting waxen

Was mijn eerste ketting die ik zelf ging waxen en opleggen. Eens wax gesmolten, ketting aan chain couplers vast gemaakt en erin gelegd, kwartierke laten liggen en terug uitgehaald. Laten uitharden op de meegeleverde staander, na uitharden, overtollige wax met doek verwijderd en schakels goed los gemaakt. Wax doet zijn ding, ik heb de volledige set met mooie korting gekocht, anders vond ik het te prijzig en zou ik het niet besteld hebben.
