Description

Prime Wax is an ultra-clean hot wax developed for all weather conditions. Apply it once and ride up to 500 km without cleaning your chain: dirt doesn’t stand a chance, keeping your drivetrain spotless and running super smooth and silent. Prime Wax' performance saves you up to 8 watts in friction and makes bike maintenance effortless, extending the lifespan of your drivetrain by up to 10 times. With Prime Wax, your chain runs smoother, cleaner and quieter than ever before.

How to use

For a professional result, use Prime Wax with the Waxifyer. Prefer to melt manually? You can also melt the wax using a bain-marie.

Waxifyer
Clean your chain and all drivetrain components with Striptease and make sure they are completely degreased and dry.
1. Melt Prime Wax in the Waxifyer on ‘Perfect’ (75–85 °C).
2.Submerge the chain fully in the wax for 15 minutes.
3. Remove the chain from the Waxifyer and hang it on the Drip Dock. Allow it to cool and harden completely. For the best result, let the chain cure for half a day.
4. Move each link to make sure it moves freely.
5. Wipe off any excess wax with a clean microfibre cloth and reinstall the chain on your bike.
6. During your first ride, some wax flakes may come off. You can wipe them away with a microfibre cloth or they’ll fall off naturally while riding.

If your chain feels or sounds “dry”, repeat the process. You don’t need to degrease a previously waxed chain again. As long as you keep the hot wax clean, you can reuse Prime Wax (each session uses around 4 g of wax).

Bain-marie
Prime Wax can also be melted au bain-marie by placing the package in hot water (±85 °C) for 10–20 minutes, allowing the wax to melt without coming into contact with water. Make sure the package does not touch the bottom of the pan and remains stable while heating. Always wear heat-resistant gloves and use tongs to work safely. We recommend using the Waxifyer: safer, cleaner, and easier to use.

FAQ

Which waxes can Prime Wax be compared to?
Prime Wax belongs to the top tier of paraffin hot waxes, like Silca Secret Chain Blend, Cyclowax Core, Performance Wax Blends, Optimize Hot Wax, CeramicSpeed, Finish Line and Rex. Note: Hyper and Wander Wax are revolutionarily different in base and additives. They’re designed for more speed or longer lifespan than Prime Wax and the paraffin blends mentioned above.
Which Hot Wax should I choose?
Looking for ultimate convenience and a chain that stays ultra-clean? Prime Wax is your go-to. Want maximum speed and reliable performance? Go for Hyper. Prefer long rides and consistent performance without worries? Wander Wax is your perfect match. One thing’s for sure: whether you ride fast, far, daily or just on weekends, we’ve got the hot wax that fits your style.
Can I combine Prime Wax with Hyper or Wander Wax?
Prime Wax has a different base than Hyper and Wander Wax, so we don’t recommend mixing them. Doing so can reduce performance. If you want to switch between Prime and Hyper/Wander Wax, melt off the old wax in hot water (75 °C) and rinse it away.
How often should I re-wax, and how many kilometres does one treatment last?
On average, one wax treatment performs for around 500 km, depending on the weather, terrain and your riding style. If your chain sounds dry, feels rough or looks dull: it’s time to hot-wax again.
Can I top up between full hot wax sessions?
Absolutely! Use Slick Wax or Speed Potion Wax as a quick boost on a dry chain. Perfect when you’re short on time but don’t want to lose watts. Then plan your next Prime Wax session for maximum durability and performance.
I'm heading out for a ride tomorrow and don’t have time for the full hot wax process, what now?
No worries! Prime Wax works perfectly with Slick Wax or Speed Potion Wax (liquid). Use drip wax as a quick top-up to bridge the time until your next hot-wax session.
Can I heat up Prime Wax au bain-marie in the packaging?
Yes, you can! You can heat Prime Wax au bain-marie in its original packaging up to 4–6 times. After that, use the Waxifyer. Make sure the water doesn’t exceed 85 °C and always keep the pouch open to prevent it from bursting. Place the chain in the pouch before the wax is fully melted, this keeps the pouch stable. Always remove the pouch from the pan before taking the chain out to avoid damaging your cookware.
What’s the ideal temperature and soaking time?
Melt Prime Wax at 75–85 °C (Perfect mode on the Waxifyer). Soak your chain for 15 minutes, move it occasionally for maximum absorption. Let the hot wax cure for half a day for optimal results. Flex the links to loosen them and wipe off any excess wax.
What should I do if there’s dirt in the solidified wax?
Turn on the Waxifyer briefly (10–30 seconds) until the solidified wax loosens. Remove the wax and scrape off the dirty part. Reuse the clean wax. This keeps your wax performing at its best.

Schickes Zeug 😁

Prime Wax wax test

My drivetrain setup: Shimano 105 Di2 derailleurs, Shimano 11/36 cassette, NOVA RIDE pulleys, Shimano CN-M8100 chain, and ROTOR QRings 48/31 crankset.
I cleaned my chain in an ultrasonic cleaner with Striptease cleaner/water (1:3) at 80°C.
I used the Waxifyer to apply the Prime Wax. The wax melted quickly.
I let the chain soak for the recommended 15 minutes.
After hardening, the links released easily.
Road test over a distance of 90 kilometers.
The entire drivetrain is very quiet and smooth.
The chain remains clean and dry.
The comparison between Prime Wax and Wander Wax in this regard seems identical.
It remains to be seen how often Prime Wax will need to be reapplied compared to Wander Wax.

Gravel & Road
